ZCP 7.2.3 Final is available!

ZCP 7.2.3 Final is available!

Released as planned in the beta-phase we are glad to announce the immediate availability of ZCP 7.2.3 Final.

What’s new in this release?

With this release we’ve added some new features and bugfixes which allow better support and compatibility. This version of ZCP is the ideal foundation for use with our other upcoming releases, such as Zarafa WebApp, DeskApp and others. We therefore recommend the upgrade to 7.2.3 for the upcoming final releases, like WebApp 2.2 and DeskApp 1.0.

Software Collections and PHP

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) introduced the Software Collections (SCL’s) – supported by Red Hat – allowing the availability of more recent versions of specific software components for existing enterprise releases without forcing usage of these packages (as they are not API/ABI safe with distribution included packages).

With Red Hat providing the rh-php56 software collection, we are able to build PHP-MAPI based on PHP 5.6 for RHEL 6 and RHEL 7, and provide these to our customers in a standardized way. You can easily identify the ZCP builds with the “-php-56” suffix in the end of the package name. With these packages, you will be able to install and run the next release of WebApp 2.2 on, for example, RHEL 6. RHEL 6 only ships 5.3 per default and would be unsupported by WebApp 2.2, since the minimum requirement for WebApp 2.2 is PHP 5.4.

For more information on Software Collections, feel free to check out the official page https://www.softwarecollections.org.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 11 natively provides PHP 5.3 packages from SLES 11 SP3 on – since WebApp 2.2 has the PHP 5.4 requirement as mentioned above, the new “sle11_php_55” packages provided by us grant the ability to continue using WebApp 2.2 on SLES 11 by adding the “server:php” repository for SLES 11, which can be found here.

This release in general

Next to the new repository addition builds, we’ve made some more changes available with this release:

  • zarafa-cachestat.py in zarafa-utils package allows the overview of currently used cache statistics
  • Re-enable non-SSL usage for zarafa-webaccess on RHEL and SLES platforms out-of-the-box
  • Multiple smaller fixes and enhancements, from better logging to better crash handling
  • Fixes for zarafa-admin in large LDAP environments (ldap page size)
  • Fixes for zarafa-search, regarding non-ascii characters and other smaller improvements
  • Added support for ACLs in python-zarafa
  • Many smaller optimizations

Where do I find it?

As usual, you can get your ZCP download via our Portal and for the community versions, please refer to our community download location.

Reminder

Please note that with the next release some packages are not distributed anymore, since they have exceeded their support lifecycle period or have been superseded:

  • Zarafa Backup is being replaced by Zarafa Backup Plus
  • Zarafa WebAccess will not be shipped anymore, Zarafa WebAccess is fully replaced with Zarafa WebApp

This means this Zarafa Collaboration Platform 7.2.3 release will be the last version where these packages are still included.
