The Summercamp was visited by engineers who develop applications on top of Zarafa. So for a weekend the Linux Hotel in Essen was full of developers ranging from Backup to ERP vendors. The session started on Friday with a discussion on the current available Multiserver architecture. As outlined in this paper, Database, Mailserver and webserver can be split. A few customer architectures who used this replication were discussed. At the end of the session several technicians outlined the advantages of Zarafa’s future Master-Master replication compared to the latest Exchange 2007 CCR replication. After this presentation there was a Backup session, which started with backup strategies where the current combination of Bricklevel backup and MySQL backup methods for restore were discussed. SEP is one of the commercial backup developers who create a solution with a Graphical User Interface on top of Zarafa. Harald Graus from backup vendor SEP (www.sep.de/) was excited about the differentiating features compared to other groupware solutions. In the afternoon a speech was given by Martijn de Wilde from O3Spaces (www.o3spaces.com/) about integration with their Sharepoint alternative. And Ryan Hughes from Zarafa showed the Zarafa Admin interface. On Saturday, Frank Wille from Novulo (www.novulo.nl/) explained how they have integrated Zarafa in their ERP solution using the PHP-Mapi extension. The Novulo solution will be deployed in the first week of July at 6 locations of one of the largest government institutions in the Netherlands. Also Manfred Gutas from Inmedias / Colamo gave a story in which he explained how they developed a realtime and very secure mobile solution on top of Zarafa (www.colamo.de/). After this speech a software development tool was launched to develop in C++ against the Zarafa Mapi4Linux layer. This speech was followed by a speech on Antispam integration in Zarafa by Belgian Linux guru Jan Guldentops from Better Access (www.ba.be). During Jan’s speech everybody got so excited that there was no single laptop open anymore. After the Saturday lunch a speech was given about integration with appliances where several solutions ranging such as the Bitkit (www.bitbone.de) and one from Godot (www.godot.de/) where discussed. The day ended with a technical presentation on Zarafa Mobile Sync, where a demonstration was given how Zarafa couples with Nokia and Ericsson Mobile phones in the next version 5.20 released this quarter. Jean-Marc André says it was worth to travel a few hours for this Summercamp: “The weekend shows that there’s an atmosphere where Zarafa enables application developers to share knowledge and develop further on Zarafa related solutions that offer tremendous value to customers”.
